DomainQuester  » The technology » XML Files
The DomainQuester XML Files' flavor (See Commercial information), provides the customer with XML files built using NITF's industry standards. These files can be easily integrated into the customer's web site and systems, using its look and feel; or they can be redistributed electronically to third parties.

In this flavor, the information cannot be consumed by the final users as it is, but rather it requires some kind of technology workaround by the customer.

Since the DomainQuester XML Files have been designed using industry standards, any integration or transformation can be easily done. This is the right flavor for these customers who are looking for, among other uses:

Integrate the information into an existing software, system, database, web site, intranet or search utility.
Visualize the information with their own look and feel, through XSL.
Deliver selected parts of the information to specific users or employees.
Combine the information with data from other sources.
Transform the information into different formats such as Microsoft® Word™, Adobe® PDF, RTF, WML, HTML, etc.
Access the information from mobile devices such as cell phones, PDAs or Blackberry's®, as well other devices.
Commercialize the information to their clients.

The DomainQuester XML Files are available for all the Commercialization Schemas offered: Distribution, Companion and In-House Agreements.

Once the customer has decided on a Commercialization Schema, it receives all the XML files containing the information acquired (See Distribution and the Resource Kit). This information is restricted by the Subscription Scope purchased (See Subscription Scopes). Once the initial group of XML files containing the acquired information is received, weekly updates are sent electronically.

The XML files have been built using NITF standards, plus proprietary XML tags that let the customer represent or integrate the information in any way or to use it on any platform.

NITF open standard
NITF (News Industry Text Format) uses XML (eXtensible Markup Language) to define the content and structure of articles. Because metadata is applied throughout the content, NITF documents are far more searchable and useful than HTML pages.

By using NITF, the customer can adapt the interactivity and the look and feel of the DomainQuester information received to the bandwidth, devices, and personalized needs of their users. These documents can be translated into HTML, WML (for wireless devices), RTF (for printing), Microsoft® Word™ documents, Adobe® PDF files or any other format the customer wishes.

NITF was developed by the
International Press Telecommunications Council (IPTC), an independent international association of the world's leading news agencies and publishers. It is a standard that is open, public, proven, well-used, well-documented and well-supported.

Proprietary XML information
Beyond the NITF tags and format, DomainQuester XML Files contain proprietary XML tags that let its customers to use, sort, filter, bookmark, search and display the contained information depending on several variables such as: country, resource, subject, title, latest update, matter, among others.

The following piece of XML illustrates the proprietary tags available in an DomainQuester XML file:

<dpquesterdata>
  <file id="IP_PRA_0700711" title="Domain names,
   proceedings and practice for China" />
  <resource value="RE_PRA" />
  <matter value="SU_119" />
  <subject value="SU_119" />
  <country value="CO_226" />
  <latest_update value="06/20/2008" />
  <associate_id value="ASN_031" />
</dpquesterdata>

The customer also receives, within the Resource Kit, a master XML file containing all the possible values used in the proprietary tags, along with supplementary values for a correct representation.

Distribution and the Resource Kit
When the customer acquires a set of DomainQuester XML Files, it receives an initial delivery containing all the acquired information. This delivery consists of a ZIP file containing all the XML files acquired. This delivery can be received through e-mail of it can be downloaded directly from Equerion's FTP server.

Once the initial delivery has been received, the customer receives weekly updates via the same mean. These weekly updates contain only the XML files recently updated, along with a file containing an index of all the changes sent.

Along with the initial delivery, a Resource Kit is included. This Resource Kit includes useful information for the technical implementation and use of the XML files.
